SMA & Mithun Productions present Live at the Hilde featuring Lucinda Williams with Dessa and special guests Chastity Brown and Kiss the Tiger. Presented by The Current.

Three-time Grammy Award winner, Lucinda Williams has been carving her own path for more than three decades now. Born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Williams had been imbued with a “culturally rich, economically poor” worldview. Several years of playing the hardscrabble clubs gave her a solid enough footing to record a self-titled album that would become a touchstone for the embryonic Americana movement – helping launch a thousand musical ships along the way. For much of the 1990s, Williams moved around the country, turning out work that won immense respect within the industry (winning a Grammy for Mary Chapin Carpenter’s version of “Passionate Kisses”) and a gradually growing cult audience. 1998’s Car Wheels on a Gravel Road notched her first Grammy as a performer. 2020’s Good Soul Better Angels was a socio-political masterpiece, garnering two Grammy nominations. In October 2021, Williams was inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall Of Fame. In April 2023, Williams released her long-awaited memoir, Don’t Tell Anybody The Secrets I Told You, to wide critical acclaim, which debuted at #5 on the NYT Bestsellers List. In June 2023, Williams released Stories from a Rock n Roll HeartThe AP referred to the album as “another important chapter to one of the most important musical journeys of the last half-century.”

Dessa fell in love with language as a toddler—and she just never got over it. Coming up in Minneapolis, she collected favorite words to decorate the walls of her brain; as teenager, she thrilled in metaphor; and when she started writing songs and touring, she’d always lean in to pick up on the regional slang. Now, Dessa works in most fields that traffic in words: she’s recorded rap bangers as part of the fiercely independent Doomtree collective, released a live album with the Grammy-winning Minnesota Orchestra; contributed to the New York Times and National Geographic Traveler; delivered a TED Talk that’s notched more than 4 million views; hosted two seasons of the Deeply Human radio program; and published a memoir titled My Own Devices.

Gospel and blues, melodic sensibility, and honest emotion characterize Minnesota-based artist Chastity Brown. She’s been featured on NPR’s “Favorite Sessions,” CMT, American Songwriter, the London Times, Paste Magazine and others.

Kiss the Tiger are here to rattle our bones and bust us out of our cocoons with some good old fashioned rock and roll. Fronted by the magnetic and disarming Meghan Kreidler, this is a band that doesn’t just play. They combust.

Live at the Hilde is held at the Hilde Performance Center, a hidden gem outdoor stage, which features an open-air concert atmosphere with a glass stage wall in a scenic city park. While the Hilde Performance Center has hosted successful community events (namely the Music in Plymouth concert), Live at the Hilde offers regional music fans another full concert experience at this amazing outdoor venue.
