About Marc Cohn

After winning a Grammy for his soulful ballad “Walking in Memphis,” Marc Cohn solidified his place as one of this generation’s most compelling singer-songwriters, combining the precision of
a brilliant tunesmith with the passion of a great soul man. Rooted in the rich ground of American rhythm and blues, soul and gospel and possessed of a deft storyteller’s pen, he weaves vivid, detailed, often drawn-from-life tales that evoke some of our most universal human feelings: love, hope, faith, joy, heartbreak.

In 2019, Marc released a collaborative record with gospel legends Blind Boys of Alabama titled Work To Do which was released on BMG. Work to Do is comprised of three studio tracks plus seven intimate live performances recorded at the Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook, CT, during a taping of the PBS series The Kate. Original plans were to release an EP containing the studio tracks, but the excitement and magic captured during the taping inspired the decision to create this unique hybrid album.

2019 was a busy year for Marc, consisting of 75 shows in about 65 cities. Moving forward, Marc continues to do what he does best: infuse American music with both a fresh perspective and a
reverence for its deep roots.

About Randall Bramblett

Esteemed singer-songwriter Randall Bramblett is a multi-instrumentalist musician with a career spanning four decades. Highly sought-after for his creativity as both a collaborator and skilled touring sideman, the legendary Georgian’s talent has earned him the respect of his peers and many of rock’s finest luminaries. He’s shared stages with artists such as Steve Winwood (16 years), Bonnie Raitt, The Allman Brothers and Widespread Panic, among others. He’s also a noted songwriter – he penned the title track for the Grammy nominated Blind Boys of Alabama’s album Almost Home, adding to a long catalog of songs covered by Raitt, Gregg Allman, Bonnie Bramlett, Hot Tuna, Delbert McClinton, Bettye Lavette, Chuck Leavell and more. But it’s Bramblett’s own career as frontman where his artistry is truly on full display.

He’s recorded 12 albums for labels Polydor, Capricorn (w/Sea Level), the last seven on New West Records. Deep into his self-described second act of his solo career, and living in Athens, Georgia, Bramblett’s talents are repeatedly praised by musicians, critics, DJs and fans.

About the Canterbury Park Concert Series

Marc Cohn is the fourth show in the joint Canterbury Park Concert Series – an effort between SMA and Canterbury Park, returning for its second year! In 2021, Canterbury Park added to its stable of entertainment options a series of outdoor concerts featuring nationally-known artists performing in an intimate outdoor trackside setting. The Canterbury Park Concert Series returns in 2022 with eight dates featuring a variety of genres beginning Friday, July 29.

“The positive response from guests attending last year’s inaugural concert series was tremendous,” said Deb Schaber, Director of Entertainment for Canterbury Park. “Our venue provides guests an opportunity to experience great outdoor music in a unique setting that offers comfortable seating, outstanding sightlines and acoustics, and close proximity to the stage.”

The concert series will feature a blend of sounds and styles, including long-standing national acts and new artists.

Parking is free adjacent to the grandstand.
