SMA presents Live at the Hilde featuring BoDeans on Saturday, August 17 at the Hilde Performance Center in Plymouth, MN! This outdoor concert also features special guests The New Standards and DJ Shannon Blowtorch.
After multiple chart-topping radio singles and TV placements, BoDeans have defined a generation that embraced songs like “Good Things,” “You Don’t Get Much,” “Idaho,” “If It Makes You,” “Closer to Free,” “Stay” and “All the World.” BoDeans signed their first recording contract with Slash/Warner Brothers Records in 1985 and their debut record, “Love & Hope & Sex & Dreams” was released May, 1986. Since then, they have released 12 studio albums with ten records that hit the Billboard Top 200 Chart and numerous singles on the Mainstream Rock, Top 40 and Triple A radio charts. BoDeans reside in a small group of bands that have managed to survive the ups and downs of the industry, remaining true to their sound and their style, for 30 years, and show no signs of slowing down.
About The New Standards
The three core members of The New Standards come from illustrious Twin Cities bands: Chan Poling founded the seminal Punk/New Wave act The Suburbs; John Munson was an original member of Trip Shakespeare and the chart-topping Semisonic; Steve Roehm started on drums in the Texas punk outfit Billygoat and the avant-jazz Electropolis. Sensing a lack of interesting jazz trio repertoire beyond the usual “old standards,” the group originally formed to play and sing their favorite songs – from every era, particularly post 1960’s pop music – in a stripped-down acoustic setting. Their reimagined versions make room for solos and arrangements with the freedom of jazz, and yet never fully abandon the modest soul of pop and rock.
About Shannon Blowtorch
Shannon Blowtorch is an award-winning DJ, promoter, sound engineer and entertainment consultant. City Pages and Star Tribune have recognized her as the best Best Club DJ in the Twin Cities multiple years in a row, as well as making the Sun-Times‘ Top 100 DJs nationally. She has toured nationally and internationally, is the DJ with the rap crew GRRRL PARTY and has a weekly Saturday night show on The Current. She is the hottest DJ in the Twin Cities. Known not only for her professionalism, but also her eclectic (and impressive) music collections and her incredible ability to read a crowd to keep the party bumping.
About Live at the Hilde
Live at the Hilde is held at the Hilde Performance Center, a hidden gem outdoor stage, which features an open-air concert atmosphere with a glass stage wall in a scenic city park. While the Hilde Performance Center has hosted successful community events (namely the Music in Plymouth concert), Live at the Hilde offers the regional music fans another full concert experience at this amazing outdoor venue.
